Mbhashe Tenza Beach Music Festival 2017
As part of promoting and marketing the coastal tourism and oceans economy, Mbhashe hosted a half marathon, walk and music festival on the 22 December.
With heavy showers pouring at Tenza beach yesterday, beach goers and music lovers from Willowvale did not deter from attending what’s deemed as Willowvale’s most attended biggest event, The Tenza Beach Music Festival. Tenza beach has also been piloted for blue flag status.
“The primary objective for this kind of an event is marketing Mbhashe as a tourist destination and a place to go to” said Cllr Janda, the Executive Mayor of Mbhashe local municipality.
Amongst other objectives for the event was mobilization of small enterprises to take advantage of festive season by marketing their products thus developing the local economy.
This annual music festival yet again did not disappoint its crowd. Hundreds of people the young and old, made their way to Tenza beach dressed in their cool summer clothing with cooler boxes on hand for a whole day of fun.
In the morning a 21 km, 10km and 5km race took place where the Executive Mayor of Mbhashe, Cllr Samkelo Janda together with athletes from around Mbhashe and nearby towns partook in the races. The marathon was aimed at achieving social cohesion and promotion of healthy life styles. Soon after the races were completed people started congregating at Tenza Beach where the stage was set and they danced and sang along to their favourite songs .
Renowned Afro-pop singer Vusi Nova with the boy band 047, Janele, TZK, Poet Joloza and Maweleleni crew were amongst those who performed at the event. “
The festival has not only brought entertainment to Mbhashe, but it has also enhanced the local businesses and SMMES as it has created many business opportunities.
